Everyone appreciates a good film, whether or not you’re a movie buff. And what makes a good film is not just the title or the A-list cast. Instead, a film’s direction, editing, plot, strength of characters, scripting, interpretation by the actors that become the characters, and a sufficient budget, boost the quality of a motion picture. So we gave this brief foreword to discuss the latest installment in the blockbuster franchise “Creed.”

If you know ball, then you know that Creed is a good film, a top-tier franchise. And as already mentioned, we are here to discuss Creed III, the new film’s cast, plot, producers, soundtrack, ratings & trailer. However, we cannot go into all those without first giving the newbies to this franchise a little backstory on Creed.

Creed: The Movie Franchise

Ryan Coogler directed the 2015 American sports drama Creed, which he co-wrote with Aaron Covington. The film is a sequel and the seventh installment in the Rocky film serieAlthoughhat Rocky Balboa was supposed to be the end of the franchise; Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer recruited Coogler in 2013 to create a Rocky spin-off. The original screenplay by Coogler and Covington was completed in April 2014. Creed premiered on November 19, 2015, at the Regency Village Theater in Los Angeles and was released in the United States by Warner Bros. Pictures on November 25, 2015. The picture was also a Box Office success, grossing $173 million globally.

Creed is an incredible reboot that meaningfully develops past characters and introduces a new iconic name to the brand with Adonis Creed (Michael B. Jordan), the franchise’s new hero and the son of Rocky’s longtime opponent and close friend, Apollo Creed (Carl Weathers). In the first Creed movie, directed by Ryan Coogler, Adonis sacrifices an excellent career to pursue his passion for professional boxing, but he didn’t want to be in his father’s shadow. So he seeks out Rocky Balboa, who develops Adonis to become a powerful fighter and a better person.

Creed II, directed by Steven Caple Jr., established that the previous movie was not a fluke, delivering a fascinating story about Adonis becoming a spouse and father while also returning Ivan Drago (Dolph Lundgren his son Viktor Drago (Florian Munteanu) as clearly spelled out enemies.

Creed III

Adapted from a script by Ryan Coogler and Zach Baylin, Creed III is a 2023 American sports drama movie. The movie is the third in the Creed series and the ninth overall in the Rocky movie franchise. It is the follow-up to Creed II (2018). Although Sylvester Stallone continues to work as a producer, this is the first movie in the franchise not to have him play Rocky Balboa. It appeared like Creed II would have marked the conclusion of the Rocky series as Sylvester Stallone announced his retirement from the role of Rocky Balboa.

However, a third movie was revealed to be in production not long after Creed II was released. This time, Michael B. Jordan will not only return to the role of the main character and produce the movie but also make his directorial debut. Creed III (2023) is looking to be a great trilogy finale thanks to Ryan Coogler’s continued involvement as executive producer and Jordan’s eagerness to demonstrate his filmmaking abilities.

As of March 3, the film’s premiere date, the only location to see it is cinemas/theatres. The film is being screened in several locations across the country. You can visit the websites of your favorite cinemas to find out if there are screenings near you and to purchase tickets. Creed III will almost certainly be available to stream on Amazon Prime Video shortly after its theatrical premiere. Yet, there is a possibility that HBO Max will acquire the film.

Cast

Michael B. Jordan will once again portray Adonis Creed’s lead role in addition to directing the film. However, this will be the first time that Sylvester Stallone, who plays Rocky Balboa, won’t be there. Instead, Tessa Thompson, who plays Bianca Creed, and Phylicia Rashad, who plays his mother, Mary Anne Creed, will be there. In addition, the two key boxers from Adonis’ fights in the first two movies are also back, and they’re both real-life boxing competitors. They include Viktor Drago from the second movie, played by Florian Munteanu, and “Beautiful” Ricky Conlan from the first Creed, played by Tony “Bomber” Bellew.

Creed III did not have an appearance from Sylvester Stallone in any kind. The departure of Sylvester Stallone may be attributed to two factors: first, he was not the biggest admirer of the creative path that “Creed III” took, and second, his clash with veteran franchise producer Irwin Winkler persists.

Plot

When we last watched Adonis, he had just defeated Viktor Drago, ending their long-standing feud since Apollo Creed. Adonis’s father was murdered in Rocky IV by Viktor’s father, Ivan Drago (1985). According to the official plot summary provided by United Artists Releasing for the third installment, Adonis Creed (Michael B. Jordan) succeeding in both his professional and personal life since ruling the boxing world. When Damian (Jonathan Majors), a boyhood buddy and boxing prodigy, reappears after serving a lengthy jail sentence, he is eager to demonstrate that he deserves his chance in the ring. However, this confrontation between ex-friends is more than simply a brawl. Adonis must fight Damian, a fighter with nothing to lose, to settle the score, risking his future.

Producers

Given that Michael B. Jordan will be directing, this will probably be one of his most intimate stories. It feels appropriate considering that Sylvester Stallone directed the second, third, and fourth Rocky films in addition to the sixth Rocky Balboa movie because it is uncommon for a prominent character actor to write the script for the role in addition to portraying. Michael B. Jordan frequently works with the original Creed filmmaker. After consulting with prominent actors-turned-directors like Denzel Washington and Bradley Cooper, Jordan told Empire that directing the movie was a freeing experience.

Creed III was executive-produced by Ryan Coogler and his partner Zinzi Coogler. While his brother Keenan Coogler and co-writer Zach Baylin compose the screenplay, Ryan Coogler has also been credited for the story.
