No surprises5By SRB_123The creativity and pure love for music is on display yet again with another Coldplay album for the ages. Great collaborations with other artists and some unique sounds and colors.
A Once Great Band Fails to Deliver1By ChrisMartin's Alter EgoHave you read the lyrics to “My Universe”? “You, you are my universe. And I just want to put you first. And you, you are my universe, and I…” You get the idea. This is a bad album filled with super, saccharine sweet pop music that sounds nothing like the music they used to create in their first four albums. “Higher Power” is just bad. “Biutyful” may be one of the worst, annoying ear worms of all time with the synthesized voice whining throughout. The one saving grace of the album is Coloratura. It sounds more like the Coldplay of old. (It gets one star because this one song saved it from zero stars.) But unfortunately, it cannot overcome the pop-tsunami misery of this album.
Soulless, lost their way2By Dug the SlugHave been a fan since the first record. But this is soulless and over-produced. No edge.
RIP Coldplay1By tonyinthecityThey're a long way from "Parachutes" on this album, that's for sure. And not in a good way. They had a good run there for about 20 years, so they deserve some credit for making it to the top of the A-list of rock bands. But a few wrong turns down the slippery slope of fame later, you wind up crashing into this outhouse of an album.
Great, just different for Coldplay5By NickPetronI think this is a great, well paced and structured album with a very good concept. The sound of electronic and pop elements fit the concept! Coldplay is a brilliant band. If you don’t like this album, I’m sure they’ll change it up on the next one. I love the diversity in their work and the different sounding albums.
