Getting closer to the magic of 1

I’ve had 1 on repeat since it dropped. Had to have listened over a thousand times. 2 didn’t have the same spark for me, but could never really put my finger on why. This feels much closer to 1, but now I realize what 2 was missing — and the same for this release. Casey Benjamin, Chris Dave, and less features. The magic wasn’t just Robert, but the group, and they were complimented by features not saturated with features. Robert needs to “get the guys back together” and be more selective and thoughtful about the features. This is a good album, but still doesn’t hold a candle to the first Black Radio. Fingers crossed that the magic of 1 returns to 4 🤞

Another great album. Black Radio 1 introduced me to the straight jazz albums, which are all great! I’m a high school teacher and I’ve gotten a lot of my students interested in Robert Glasper (so the next generation is all lined up). Had the opportunity to see Robert Glasper live (and he was nice enough to take a pic during intermission). I am now a lifelong fan.
A Breath Of Fresh Air.

Classic Robert Glasper-led journey. Breath of fresh air and songs like Shine and Better Than I Imagined are part of my life's daily or weekly soundtrack. Would like to extend a personal big ups to Robert and every musician, singer, artist, writer, producer and anyone else who contributed towards the creation, evolution and distribution of this album.

I love your jazz compositions, but I’m not in favor of jazz and hip hop mixed. Your jazz fans would favor your exemplary talent hitting the ivory! Hip hop fans may love your lyrical style. As a jazz fan of yours, I’d love a pure jazz album.
