Few holiday customs can be trusted more than Mariah Carey’s contagious holiday cheer.
The legendary musician demonstrated it once more on December 13 in New York City when she took the stage at Madison Square Garden to perform her most recent Christmas-themed concert for tens of thousands of admirers. Cameras captured the performance for a new special, Mariah Carey: Merry Christmas To All!, which premiered on CBS and was streamed on Paramount+ on Tuesday at 8 p.m. ET.
The holiday special was the night’s top broadcast, with 3.91 million people on average from 8 to 10 p.m. According to Nielsen, the program had 1.1 million more viewers than the next-closest rival for each of its half-hours among P2+. In terms of viewers, CBS won the night. The two-hour event, which was recorded on December 13 in New York’s Madison Square Garden, was live-streamed on Paramount+ and CBS TVE (CBS.com / CBS app) on Tuesday, and it received the most viewers there. Additionally, it had almost 61 million social media impressions last night.
Her performance at MSG couldn’t have come at a better time: only the day before, it was revealed that her universally adored classic, “All I Want for Christmas Is You,” had made history by returning to the top spot on the Billboard Hot 100 for the fourth year in a row.
