After Will Smith Apologizes For His Oscars Slap, Chris Rock Says, “F*** Your Hostage Video, That S*** Hurt”

Chris Rock responded to Will Smith’s extended video apology after the actor apologized to his fans and the audience for hitting Rock earlier this year at the Academy Awards. At his most recent stand-up performance in London, Chris mocked the apology and called it a “hostage video” while making jokes about how hurtful the incident was. At the ceremony, Chris made a joke about Will’s wife, actress Jada Pinkett Smith.

Chris has been playing in the UK alongside comic Dave Chappelle, and at earlier performances on the same tour, Chris also made reference to the Will Smith smack. According to Deadline, Chris made a reference to Will’s apology at the start of one of his performances over the weekend by stating, “f*** your hostage video.” Then, he made a reference to Will’s acclaimed work in the 2001 movie Ali and stated “Yes that s*** hurt. He played Ali. I can’t even play Floyd Mayweather.”

Chris stated in a previous performance that Will had smacked him for the “nicest joke” he had ever told. Chris made a joke about his wife Jada Pinkett Smith’s shorn head at the Oscars in March. Chris had referred to the 1997 movie GI Jane, in which Demi Moore played a woman who shaved her head, and stated, “Jada, can’t wait for GI Jane 2.”
