Alicia Clara Shares Dreamy New Single “I Let My Plant Die”

'Velveteen' EP out Oct 28 via Hot Tramp Records

Swiss-Canadian, Montreal-based dream-pop artist/singer/songwriter Alicia Clara shares another dreamy new single “I Let My Plant Die” accompanied by stunning video directed and shot by Alix Bortoli. On the video Alicia shares: “It shot over one day this summer in my hometown of Geneva, Switzerland, while I was there to perform at the Montreux Jazz Festival. As Geneva is bordering France almost entirely, some of these scenes were actually shot in France, for example on a low mountain just a 10-minute drive away – you can see the Mont Blanc behind me – or on a small stream just behind my parents’ apartment, where I’m standing with my feet right on the border. Another brief scene was shot at my high school, and some at the Botanical Gardens. I wanted the video to portray the theme of the song pretty truthfully.”

About the track Alicia shares: “I wrote I “Let My Plant Die” in March 2021, at the 1-year mark after the pandemic’s start. I was missing my old life, and I was dying to travel to new places in which to make memories, but I also found myself missing the “dirty” aspects of life, like crowded spaces which I’ve never liked. The inspiration behind the title came from three baby plants I inadvertently let die when I left my apartment to go stay with family outside of Montreal in March 2020, thinking I’d be back in the city come April. I recognized a parallel between this and a tendency I have to put off tackling tasks or situations that scare me, thinking time will do the work on its own. Looking back, this track begs me to stop passively waiting for life to happen, and to not take any of it for granted.”

The track follows the announce of her upcoming Velveteen EP out October 28th, 2022 on Hot Tramp Records and mesmerizing lead-single “Only Fools Wish For Love”.
