Ayra Starr, Burna Boy & Rema Featured On Ex-President Obama’s Favourite Music Of 2022

Every year, former United States president Barack Obama drops his favourite list of books, movies and songs, giving the world a clue into his tastes. This year was no different, as the much-loved former president continued a tradition for which he’s famous.

Obama’s favourite music of 2022 had just three Nigerians on the list. Burna Boy, your “African Giant,” snagged the first spot with his song “Last Last.” The number was actually a hit on release, so its making Obama’s list might not be surprising.

The second Nigerian on the list is Ayra Starr, who is fancifully called Celestial Being. Her song “Rush” captivated the former president so much that he had to include it on the list. The number also made a significant impact on release.

The third song is “Calm Down” by Rema. The inclusion of this song is especially significant for the singer because he had popped on the list previously. It might be a testament to his creative powers that he made the list again.

But the ultimate triumph probably goes to Don Jazzy of Mavin Records, the current musical home of both Ayra Starr and Rema.

Obama’s list is significant because it brings so much prestige to those on it.
