Kendrick Lamar won six awards at the 2022 BET Hip Hop Awards, including artist and album of the year for Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 in May. The awards show, which was captured on camera on Friday, Sept. 30 at Atlanta’s Cobb Energy Centre, debuted on BET, BET Her, MTV2, and VH1 on Tuesday, Oct. 4.
Lamar was also won best live performer and songwriter of the year. He and Baby Keem shared two additional honors: video director of the year and best hip-hop video for “Family Ties,” respectively.
Lamar now holds the record for most awards for lyricist of the year in the show’s history with his eighth win. With this third win for a hip-hop album this year, he now shares the record for most wins in the category with T.I. and Jay-Z. He also received his third and second awards for best live performer and best hip-hop artist, respectively.
Three awards went to Drake, including best collaboration for “Wait For U,” his song with Future and Tems. With his verses on “Wait For U” and Jack Harlow’s “Churchill Downs,” Drake and himself shared the sweet 16: best featured verse award. Below is the complete list of winners at the award show:
