Big Year Ahead For “Beautiful Day” Singer, Jermaine Edwards As He Signs With Sony Music

Jermaine Edwards has stepped into 2023 in grand style. He has bagged a recording deal with Sony Music.

The Gospel artist came into the limelight recently following the viral video of a cover of his song “Beautiful Day” which was sung by Rushawn Ewears and has quickly become a viral hit on social media, especially TikTok and even YouTube.

He told the media (Jamaica Observer) that the agreement “means there is an open door to the machine of the globe that Sony has that can enable me keep control of my music with their guidance.”

Along with Representatives of Sony Music UK, He signed the contract at the 100 restaurant on Hope Road in St. Andrew.

Regarding the specifics of the arrangement though, Edwards remained silent.

The arrangement was reached after his 2014 song “Beautiful Day” somehow had a clean break, this time courtesy of Rushawn’s cover when he was ten years old and still a student at Top Hill Primary school in St. Elizabeth.

Along with Edwards, Rushawn Ewears who is now 16, signed a contract with Sony that will guarantee he receives royalties for his version of Beautiful Day, which has become popular on social media.

According to Jermaine, the duo is working on something to release to the teeming admirers though they’ll be taking their time to decide.
