Biggie Releases New Song Posthumously

Late American rapper Notorious B.I.G. has had another of his songs released in celebration of his 50th anniversary.

The American rapper would have celebrated his 50th birthday last Saturday but for the tragic murder that took his life at 24  in March 1997. To celebrate Biggie’s milestone birthday, the late rapper’s estate has now released what would be his first single in 17 years, titled “G.O.A.T.”

According to a report, the Afrobeat-inspired track remixes Biggie’s lyrics from his 1997 collaboration with fellow Brooklyn rapper Jay-Z. Biggie’s Life After Death cut “I Love The Dough”. The song features  Ty Dolla Sign and Nigerian alternative R&B singer and songwriter Bella Alubo.

Speaking on what it took to produce a song that appeals to Biggie’s global audience, Elliot Osagie, the founder of Benin City Entertainment, who’s worked with Biggie’s estate over the years to produce the track, has said the track was mainly produced using Afrobeats theme to pay homage to Biggie’s global impact.

Commenting on his role in the production, American singer T.Y. Dollar Sign said, in a statement, that finally getting the chance to get on a project with the late rapper is a dream come true for him.

Appreciating everyone who worked on the project, Biggie’s mother, Voletta Wallace expressed her joy at witnessing the reimagination of Biggie’s music for his fans and present generation lovers of his art.

G.O.A.T. is the latest in the line of Biggie’s posthumous releases, including two albums and a handful of other singles.
