The renowned singer from Nigeria known as BOJ has revealed plans for a sequel to his studio album “Gbagada Express.” Following the releases of “BOTM” and “Magic” in 2016 and 2017, respectively, the Alte singer’s third studio album was released in 2022.
The alternative singer is set to follow up his third studio album with Vol. 2 as the heavily star-studded ‘Gbagada Express’ consisted of 16 mellifluous songs and features some of the hottest names in the African music scene, talking about Wizkid, Davido, Mr. Eazi, Tiwa Savage, Buju, Fireboy DML, Amaarae, Victony, Darkovibes, Kofi Jamar, Prettyboy D-O, Fresh L, Teezee, Enny, Mellissa, Zamir, and Obongjayar.
The DRB Lasgidi member has announced that Vol. 2 of ‘Gbagada Express’ would be released on June 2nd, 2023, after the release of two songs in 2023, ‘2 Bad’ and ‘Line of Fire,’ both of which feature Ayra Starr. Odumodublvck, Ayra Starr, Tay Iwar, British rapper Knucks, and Ghanaian singer Mellissa are all scheduled to appear on the next release.
His landmark album-length statement in the movement, “Gbagada Express,” felt like his finest achievement, and this volume 2 will undoubtedly be the icing on top. Alté music is challenging to define since it operates naturally and intuitively adequately. R&B, afro swing, banku, and trap notes are all audible yet intangible simultaneously. The minimalistic sound that BOJ and the producers he works with have perfected achieves a glassy, expansive purity while successfully filtering out the impurities and debris in their new alchemical brew. This new potion is nutritious and revitalizing, and it is straightforward to take.
Many people anticipate that “Gbagada Express Vol.2” will be many things, but smoothness will be its primary focus. Although the arrangements, instruments, intonations, and phraseologies are diverse combined, they create a new form that is smooth and deceptively easy to understand. BOJ will undoubtedly allow his albums to flow too smoothly, with some tracks occasionally not competing for your attention as much as aiming not to disrupt your mood. However, following its Vol 1, this record will get by on the strength of its vibe, satisfied, knowing that its distinct fingerprint is enough to demand respect.
