BOJ Reveals Behind The Scenes Of Successful ‘Awolowo’ Remix Collaboration With Wizkid
Popular Nigerian singer, BOJ, recently disclosed the intriguing story of his collaboration with renowned artist Wizkid on the remix of his hit song, ‘Awolowo.’ The track, included in his second studio album ‘Gbagada Express,’ was released in 2022 and gained considerable attention.
BOJ, whose real name is Bolaji Odojukan, is one of the pioneers of the Alte sound in Nigeria and a prominent member of the well-known music group DRB Lasgidi. He shared the details of this fascinating collaboration during an exclusive interview on the ‘uncensored’ podcast.
According to BOJ, the process kicked off unexpectedly when Ghanaian artist Darko Vibes contacted him late at night, expressing Wizkid’s interest in the ‘Awolowo’ track. Wizkid, captivated by the song, was eager to contribute to the project. Despite receiving this promising news, BOJ did not initially consider it to be significant.
However, his perspective shifted dramatically when, just two days later, Wizkid shared a snippet of his verse for the remix on social media, tagging BOJ in the post. This unexpected revelation caused a wave of excitement and anticipation amongst their fans.
BOJ, filled with enthusiasm, requested Wizkid’s vocals for the track, even though he wasn’t entirely sure that this collaboration would come to fruition. To his delight, the vocals were sent, and the rest, as they say, is history. This successful collaboration led to the release of the much-celebrated ‘Awolowo’ remix in 2022, consolidating BOJ’s position in the industry and marking a milestone in his career.
