BTS’s Jin Sells 700,000 Copies Of “The Astronaut” On Day One Of Release

On the first day of sales, BTS member Jin’s first official solo song sold more than 700,000 copies, according to a statement from his agency on Saturday. 700,754 copies of “The Astronaut” were sold the day it was released at 1 p.m. Friday, according to Big Hit Music, who cited information from the local market tracker Hanteo Chart, according to Yonhap.

For a single-track album, it is a sizable sales figure. As of 9 a.m. on Saturday, “The Astronaut” was also at the top of the iTunes top songs chart in 97 nations, including the US, UK, Germany, and France. On YouTube, the song’s music video, which tells the tale of an astronaut who unintentionally landed on Earth, had amassed over 17 million views. Coldplay contributed to the pop-rock tune “The Astronaut,” and the British band also performed on the track.

Jin contributed to the song’s lyrics by expressing his love for Army, the K-pop septet’s international following. The song’s enigmatic and dreamlike atmosphere is created by Jin’s very emotive voice, a soothing acoustic guitar sound, and a slow-building synthesizer sound. Jin will temporarily leave the music industry after wrapping up the promotional operations for “The Astronaut” in order to enlist in the military as the first BTS member.
