This historic achievement was made possible by his recent collaboration on “Mera Na bu,” a song by the late Indian musician Sidhu Moosa Wala. Burna Boy’s historic feat follows the debut of another Nigerian artist, Rema, on the Billboard India Songs chart.

In an exclusive video from the Notting Hill Carnival of 2022, enthusiastic fans can be heard chanting along to “Last Last” by Burna Boy. The number one song on the rankings, “Mera Na,” combines Afrobeats and Indian rap in an original and lively way.

Posthumously released on April 7, 2023, the recording features Burna Boy and Steel Banglez, a British music composer and producer. The song has not only topped the rankings in India, but also reached number 14 on Billboard’s Canadian Hot 100 and debuted at number 102 on the Billboard Global 200.
