Burna Boy’s ‘YE’ Achieves Platinum Status In The United States

Burna Boy, Nigeria’s megastar, has achieved yet another massive accomplishment, with his popular single ‘YE’ selling over a million units in the United States. According to Chart Data, Burna Boy’s ‘YE’ is now eligible for an RIAA platinum plaque after selling one million copies in the United States. ‘YE’ was released as a single from Burna Boy’s third studio album, ‘Outside,’ in 2018.

The record gained international fame in the United States as fans discovered it while googling Kanye West’s album of the same name. This coincidental event catapulted Burna Boy into the spotlight, and it was a watershed moment for the Grammy winner, who seized the opportunity with both hands. Burna Boy has received international fame with the release of ‘YE,’ winning a Grammy and becoming one of the most popular singers on the African continent.

With his platinum plaque, he joins CKay, Wizkid, and Tems as Nigerian artists who have received RIAA plaques. Since publishing “Outside,” the album that contained the newly-certified platinum hit, Burna has pushed out three solid LPs, the most recent being “Love, Damini,” released late last year. The album performed incredibly well, charting on Billboard and the UK album charts.
