Caleb Kennedy, Former ‘American Idol’ Contestant Charged In Fatal DUI Car Crash

On Tuesday, former American Idol contestant, Caleb Kennedy, was arrested in Spartanburg County, South Carolina, following his alleged crash into a building while driving his truck under the influence of alcohol, hitting a man in the process People reports.

The man who was hit was 54 yeah of age. A man named Larry Duane Parris who did not make it after being rushed to a hospital. Kennedy was also treated for injuries but was later charged with felony DUI resulting in loss of life and damaged property.

“A 2011 Ford pickup was travelling north on W. Murph Road when the vehicle travelled onto a private drive at 269 W. Murph Road and struck a building,” Master Trooper Mitchell Ridgeway of the South Carolina Highway Patrol reported to People. “A person inside the building sustained a fatal injury as a result of the collision.”

Trooper Ridgeway also added that the “crash remains under investigation by the South Carolina Highway Patrol.”

From what CBS News reports, Kennedy has a bond hearing booked for Wednesday and stands at risk of facing up to 25 years in prison if he gets convicted.

The 17-year-old was a contestant on the popular singing competition, American Idol, in its 19th season and made it all the way to the final 5, but had to exit the show for sharing ties with white supremacist terrorist organization, Klu Klux Klan.
