“Calm Down” By Rema Earns Platinum RIAA Status

For his song “Calm Down” with pop diva Selena Gomez, AfroRave pioneer Rema has been awarded RIAA Certified Platinum status.

Currently, “Calm Down” is No. 1 on the Global ex-US Billboard chart, No. 6 on Spotify’s Today’s Top Hits chart, No. 16 on Top 40 radio, and No. 1 on the US World Music Streaming chart. It has held that position since last October and has enjoyed a 49-week run on the chart. The song has sold over a million track equivalent copies and boasts over 7.7 billion streams. Additionally, the music video for “Calm Down” broke records and is currently the most-watched Afrobeats music video on YouTube.

When it was first released, Rave & Roses debuted at No. 1 in more than sixteen nations, earned A-List status at BBC 1xtra, reached the Top 10 on the Billboard World Music chart, and did well on the Apple Music and Shazam lists. As a result, Rema’s debut Afrobeats record became the most successful in Nigerian history. Rema has radically changed the game since making his debut, quickly emerging as one of the largest and most popular names in the new generation of Afrobeats musicians. The youthful innovator stands out for his ability to switch between genres, identifying music from Africa, India, and Arabian music as significant influences on his sound.
