The criticism of Chlöe Bailey’s “Swarm” sex scene hasn’t bothered her. With an intimate setting with Damson Idris in Donald Glover’s Prime Video series that shocked some viewers, the singer-actress came unusually close to breaking the internet. The 24-year-old protégée of Beyoncé responded to the commotion by defending her right to express herself creatively during her visit to “Big Boy’s Neighborhood.”
Responding, Chlöe said,
“I’m an actress, and I feel like it’s about art,” “When I first received the script, I was just like [gasp] ! It was just insane and gorgeous, and I think people are forgetting the plot of that scene. It’s not about seeing me in the mirror of that scene. But I think because it’s me doing it, that’s what kinda makes it blow out of proportion. But I’m barely seen for two seconds in that.”
Marissa, played by Chlöe, and Khalid, played by Idris, are shown having sex in the opening minutes of the first episode as Dre, played by Dominique Fishback, looks on through an open door. The video quickly gained popularity as viewers expressed shock and disapproval of Chlöe’s decision to participate in the explicit encounter.
She continued, emphasizing that she didn’t-reveal anything she hadn’t before, saying,
“I’m an actress. I was doing my job, and I think people gotta kinda remember I’m an adult and an artist,” Nothing was seen that they haven’t seen from me. You didn’t see nipple, you didn’t see there, nothing.”
Big Boy questioned whether Damson Idris, her co-star, had the same backlash. She answered, “I don’t think so because he’s a man. However, However, Chlöe is not allowing her detractors to bring her down. She will release “In Pieces,” her debut album, featuring Future and Missy Elliott on Friday.
