DaBaby Covers Lauryn Hill’s “Doo Wop (That Thing)” And Receives Praises For His Freestyle

DaBaby is making the news once again, this time for something less controversial. The rapper jumped on Instagram to share his freestyle over the instrumental to Lauren Hill’s classic record, “Doo Wop (That Thing).” In the video that comes in shy of two minutes, the rapper unleashes bars that are not quite like the usual DaBaby we have all come to know who has always had a thing for berating and sexualizing women in most of his songs.

In his freestyle, he sounds a bit focused as he raps about his journey, how much he has grown through it and how he is coming back bigger and better despite being the poster child for blackballed rappers. In the post’s caption which also are words taken from the fire freestyle, he wrote in all-caps, “I already did it before but I’m back more wise and a lil more patient.”

“Ask ya mama what she know about this beat,” he added.

As it turns out, fans and fellow industry colleagues chimed in in the comment section to hail the rapper. Rick Ross, T.I. and R&B singer, Eric Bellinger all dropped multiple fire emojis, co-signing the freestyle and giving DaBaby his flowers. Frankly, the rapper sounded charged and ready to go even harder. Check out the clip below and be the judge.
