Davido Escapes Onstage Attack At Lagos Concert Thanks To Security Agents
During his much-awaited Timeless concert at Lagos’ Tafawa Balewa Square, Afrobeat sensation David Adeleke, better known by his stage as Davido, almost got into a physical altercation with a cranky “fan.” The adage “Amid happiness, there is brutal danger” couldn’t be any less accurate because, for the alertness of the security personnel on the scene, this could have led to something much worse.
The event happened on April 23, 2023, while Davido played his most recent album at the famed venue in front of over 50,000 fans for the first time in Nigeria. A fan unexpectedly stormed the stage as Davido wowed the audience with his performance and made a dangerous move toward him. Security personnel intervened and led the invader offstage, but the quick-witted singer turned around and came close to punching the man.

Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State, Davido’s uncle, who the singer referenced in his song “Over Dem,” Chief Dele Momodu, and well-known musician Sir Shina Peters were other notable figures that attended the show. Fans were alerted to Davido’s wife Chioma’s absence as rumors of a rift between the two continued to circulate online.
