Davido Reveals Collaborations With Nicki Minaj & Lil Baby Sparked Controversy Amongst Fans

Award-winning Nigerian musician David Adeleke, best known by his stage name Davido, recently discussed how Hip-Hop entertainers Lil Baby and Nicki Minaj felt when rival fans questioned their collaborations with him. The Man-of-the-Moment OBO has frequently been the target of online trolling, particularly from Burna Boy’s and Wizkid’s supporters, referred to as “Outsiders” and “Wiz FC,” respectively. The “Stand Strong” crooner revealed how rival fans tried to embarrass his brand in a visual interview.

On two songs from his “A Better Time” album, Nicki Minaj and Lil Baby collaborated with Davido. He first worked with Nicki Minaj on the song “Holy Ground” and then with Lil Baby on “So Crazy.” Although these songs were very successful, they fell short of the heights many had hoped for from their partnership. Although, Davido had to travel to the United States to shoot the music video for “So Crazy,” Lil Baby was ready to make himself accessible for his scenes. In contrast, the song “Holy Ground” doesn’t yet have a music video.

The DMW boss claimed during an interview on +44 that the incident forced him to beg followers to avoid unhealthy rivalry or banter and refrain from abusing others online or in person. When he was getting ready to release his new album, “Timeless,” he claimed that the experience led him to beg his fans to put aside rivalry and bullying. As a result, he claimed he didn’t include American performers in the new album because he just wanted to put out music and stay away from the “unnecessary.”

Fans of his rivals and colleagues started messaging the American artists on social media, asking them why they had first agreed to collaborate with him, according to Davido. He also recounted how that made him feel. Davido said;

“It’s crazy like they leaked my album. For example like this stanship. Obviously, my fans, I can’t get to all of them but there is one person I can call and I will be like ‘Yo! Talk to them, tell them to calm down. So, before the new album came out, I called one of them, I was like ‘Look, last time I dropped my album, you guys were like just bashing everybody. So, when it was my turn to come out, unnecessary things happened.

“Even Nicki called me. Nicki Minaj and Lil Baby were like ‘Yo! Why are these..’. Like the other fans were DMing them ‘Why did you do a song with Davido?’.”
