A sold-out event in support of his most recent album Timeless drew tens of thousands of admirers, who Afrobeat megastar Davido has acknowledged. A number of Davido’s close friends, some of Nigeria’s top stars in entertainment, and even Ademola Adeleke, the governor of Ogun State and Davido’s uncle, attended the event, which took place on Sunday night.
Davido thanked his fans for their support and unrivaled energy at the concert while posting a clip of the event to his Instagram page. The performer gave additional hints about his future world tour. Sunday’s performance by Davido, perhaps one of Nigeria’s biggest musical exports, was a spectacular musical spectacle that solidified Nigeria’s position as the undisputed center of African pop music.
FirstBank, the largest bank in Nigeria, once again supported Davido by sponsoring the event, which reportedly included the most prominent outdoor stage set in Africa’s history. However, before Davido took the stage and lit up Lagos, singers Fave, Asake, Iyanya, Spyro, and Mayorkun delighted a massive crowd of fans at the jam-packed Tafawa Balewa Square.
Dressed in all-white attire, OBO, as he is affectionately known, then entertained them with songs from his continually expanding hit list. Classics including “Gobe,” “Aye,” “Skelewu,” and “Dami Duro,” as well as more current successes like “Over Dem All,” “Unavailable,” “Feel,” and others off his “Timeless” album.
