Doja Cat Describes ‘Planet Her’ And ‘Hot Pink’ As “Cash-Grabs”

Doja Cat consistently finds a way to keep her followers guessing. The Platinum-certified musician revealed some information about her upcoming album on Twitter earlier this year. To emphasize more on her rapping skills, she indicated that the music of her forthcoming release, Hellmouth, will depart from her pop sound.

However, the 27-year-old Los Angeles native expanded on her list of modifications and even offered some open criticism of her earlier bodies of work.

Planet Her and Hot Pink were cash-grabs and y’all fell for it,” she wrote on Twitter. “Now I can go disappear somewhere and touch grass with my loved ones on an island while y’all weep for mediocre pop.”

After retracting it, she also changed the title she had previously announced in March.

“It’s not called Hellmouth either. It’s called First of All, and yes, I’m announcing the album title right now,” she concluded.

Initially released in June 2021, Doja’s hugely popular Planet Her featured 14 genre-defying tracks with appearances from Young Thug, Ariana Grande, The Weeknd, JID, and SZA. Thanks to 109,000 first-week album-equivalent unit sales, the project reached its highest point at No. 2 on the Billboard 200. A deluxe edition of Planet Her with five additional songs and new collaborations with Gunna and Eve was released just before the year 2021 came to an end.

Since then, the “Kiss Me More” vocalist has continued to perform by dropping jaw-dropping guest verses on songs by artists like Lil Nas X, Post Malone, Tyga, Freaky Deaky, Ariana Grande, and more.
