Ed Sheeran Abandoned Drugs After His Best Friend Jamal Edwards Died Of A Drug And Alcohol Overdose

In a video for a new four-part documentary on Disney+ that was just released on Tuesday, Ed Sheeran sobbed as he talked about his wife Cherry Seaborn’s precarious health and the unexpected death of his best buddy Jamal Edwards. A heartbreaking preview for The Sum Of It All, which will broadcast on May 3, features the British megastar, 32, sobbing in the back of a car.

Ed recently admitted that he had “spiraled” into depression after his wife was diagnosed with a tumor while pregnant last year, postponing the start of her treatment. His first mentor, Jamal Edwards, passed away in February 2022 from a heart attack. Ed talks about how he first met Jamal, who gave him his big break, and their friendship before Jamal’s untimely passing last year.

Jamal Edwards, a music producer and the son of Brenda Edwards from Loose Women, tragically passed away in February 2022 at 31 after suffering a heart arrest brought on by cocaine and alcohol. Since the tragic demise of his friend, Sheeran vowed never to touch or indulge in drug use. He said it would insult the memory of his dear friend. Rest his soul.
