Today, Canadian singer-songwriter Elissa Mielke releases two new singles from her upcoming EP Mouse, out August 26 on slashie / Mom + Pop. “Body Knows” and “Get Well” are heartfelt odes to what our bodies remember, and how they heal. Exploring the manifestation of self-deliverance in heartache, this arrival on her own white horse follows the release of “Paper Moth Flame”. Both singles are elegant meditations on enduring heartbreak with a blend of Elissa’s celestial vocals, dulcet harmonies and emotion-soaked lyricism.
Combining her evocative vocals with a pen inspired by trailblazing women like Lucinda Williams, Dolly Parton, Bonnie Raitt, Tori Amos, Ani DiFranco and Carole King, Mielke has quickly become a rising star both in her adopted home cities of Toronto and Los Angeles. Her prior EP and slashie debut release, 2021’s Finally, received glowing praise from Pitchfork, describing her voice as “an immense ocean of an instrument, as complex in its sweetness as raw honey,” and Rolling Stone featured her song “Kind Of Thing” as a “Song You Need To Know”. Hear Elissa talk on her range of influences, from Kate Bush and Jeff Buckley to Bill Withers and Billy Joel, all on the Spotify podcast series “10 Songs That Made Me.” More news to come from Elissa soon!
