Frank Ocean Preps For Coachella As “Nostalgia, Ultra” Re-Release Rumors Swirl

This weekend at Coachella, Frank Ocean will perform on stage for the first time in more than five years.

The secretive musician was spotted practicing at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, California, just days before his much-anticipated performance. Social media users in the vicinity of the festival grounds posted videos of Ocean singing songs like “Nights,” “Nikes,” “Biking,” and “White Ferrari.” According to a fan, it would be his first time performing the later song from 2016’s Blonde.

Driving by the festival, a Reddit user who claimed to have heard Ocean play new music described it as “the most immaculate techno club music with Frank vocals.” This is in light of predictions that Nostalgia, Ultra will eventually be available on streaming sites as soon as this Friday. Additionally, an orange BMW E30 M3 similar to the one shown on the mixtape’s cover from 2011 was spotted parked in the desert, igniting rumors of a commercial release.

Videos of the vehicle were also posted on the official BMW USA Instagram account with a statement referencing the Ocean. Nostalgia, Ultra was made available on February 16, 2011, through Ocean’s Tumblr, but it has never been made available on digital streaming services. On Sunday, Ocean, who last appeared at Coachella in 2012, will wrap up the three-day event. Before the pandemic forced the festival’s cancellation, he was scheduled to perform as its headlining act.
