Funeral Plans For South African Rapper AKA Are Announced By The Family

The dates for the funeral procession for the late rapper AKA, who passed away on February 10, 2023, have been released by his family. AKA’s family announced in a statement on the late rapper’s official social media accounts on Tuesday, February 14, 2023, that he would be laid to rest in a private ceremony on Saturday, February 18, 2023. According to the notice, a memorial service for the late rapper will be conducted on Friday, February 17, 2023.

AKA was shot on his birthday, February 10, 2023, in Florida Durban. His death is being looked into by the Kwazulu Natal organized crime division, according to the police. AKA was the stage name of rapper Kiernan Jarryd Forbes from South Africa. Forbes, born and raised in Cape Town, rose to fame after releasing the song “Victory Lap” from his debut studio album, Altar Ego (2010).

To build on his popularity, Forbes continued to put out studio albums, such as Levels (2014), Touch My Blood (2018), Bhovamania (2020), and the joint album Be Careful What You Wish For with Anatii (2017). In addition, Forbes appeared as a special guest on WWE Live events in April 2018 in Johannesburg and Cape Town. AKA’s father, Mr. Tony Forbes, was named the family’s spokesperson for the late rapper’s passing and burial, according to the announcement of his interment.
