Glastonbury Festival 2023: Wizkid Set To Be Only Nigerian Act On Lineup
The multi-award-winning singer, songwriter, and performer Wizkid has been confirmed as the only Nigerian artist who will appear at the Glastonbury Festival 2023, which will take place in the UK from June 21 to June 25, along with some of the biggest names in the business. He becomes the only Nigerian performer to do this in 2023.
Grammy-winner Wizkid would share the stage with performers like Elton John, Lizzio, Guns N Roses, Artic Monkey, Lil Nas X, Lana De Rey, Lewis Capaldi, The War on Drugs, Chvrches, Alt-J, Blondie, Carly Rae Jepsen, Central Cee, Christine and the Queens, Fatboy Slim, Hot Chip, Joey Bada$$, Kelis, Maggie Rogers, Manic Street Preachers, and Weyes Blood, among many others.
The event’s planners disclosed that the lineup is balanced, featuring an equal number of male and female performers. According to reports, the co-organizer Emily Eavis announced these details in a December 2022 note that read thus;
“It gives me enormous pleasure to let you know that the one and only Elton John will be making his first-ever Glastonbury appearance, headlining the Pyramid Stage a Sunday night next year. “This will be the final U.K. show of Elton’s last-ever tour, so we will close the Festival and mark this huge moment in our history with the mother of all send-offs. We are so happy to finally bring the Rocket Man to Worthy Farm.”
With this announcement, ‘Biggest Bird’ Wizkid continues to chart the rise of his international recognition as more people generally continue to be receptive to his music and Afrobeats.
