ID Cabasa Shares His Thoughts On Olamide’s Departure From Coded Tunez

Music producer and executive, ID Cabasa, talked about how sad he was when Olamide chose to form YBNL and leave the label in an interview with host Adesope on the Afrobeats Podcast.

ID Cabasa claims that when Olamide made the decision to go, he was deeply saddened and almost moved to tears. ID Cabasa narrated how Olamide informed him that he had to leave to launch his label owing to conflicting visions. In 2010, Olamide released his breakthrough hit “Eni Duro” under ID Cabasa’s Coded Tunez label, and in 2011, he released his debut album “Rhapsody.”

On his road to becoming a Nigerian music icon, Olamide did subsequently depart to launch his label Yahoo Boy No Laptop (YBNL) in 2012. ID Cabasa also hinted at the ideological differences between the two of them as he described his feelings upon hearing Olamide’s song “Ilefo Illuminati.” However, Olamide stayed in regular contact with ID Cabasa even after he left Coded Tunez, and Cabasa revealed on the Honest Bunch Podcast that Olamide is the executive producer of his next album.

ID Cabasa’s upcoming album will feature a variety of talents and be a reimagining of legendary Nigerian music. Cabasa recently revealed that he will soon be releasing a reimagined version of Styl-Plus’ popular record “Olufunmi,” which will feature Joeboy, Fireboy, Odumodublvck, and Boj. He has already published a remake of 9ice’s classic tune “Photocopy,” featuring Vector.
