India Arie Supports Neil Young, Yanks Music Off Spotify
India Arie has decided to take down all her content from Spotify. This includes her entire music and podcast episodes. None is being spared.
The multiple Grammy award-winning R&B singer is boldly following Neil Young’s footsteps, a Canadian-American artist. The latter first called on Spotify to kindly remove his music catalogue owing to grievances. These same grievances also happen to be shared by the R&B songstress. The whole drama began when Spotify decided to continue with The Joe Regan Experience, a podcast hosted by Joe Regan but that had some misinformation and some inappropriate messages touching on race being dispersed to the public.
Neil Young took a stand and was quickly backed up by the actions and moves made by India Arie. She is not only pissed by some of the misleading information on the COVID-19 situation, but she also thinks Spotify is ripping artists off. “Paying musicians a fraction of a penny? and HIM $100?” Arie questioned. “This shows the type of company they are and the company they keep. I’m tired.” She continued. It’s evident that she does not condone the decision made by the music streaming service platform. Honouring her request, her music catalogue has since been taken down to avoid insult to injury.
