Jadakiss says the success of last year’s verzuz forced Def Jam to renegotiate his contract.
Jadakiss is living the dream. A dream where the world finally recognizes his worth and his music is well appreciated by fans. This is all thanks to last year’s verzuz battle, which earned him the title “Mr. Verzuz.”
It all went down in Madison Square Garden on August 3, 2021, when The Lox beat Dispet. This was because of how serious they took the battle. It was evident that they came prepared. Fat Joe predicted the change in Jada’s life when he said, “Not taking nothing from The Lox, they were incredible. But Jadakiss? Price went up! Yesterday’s price is not today’s price.”
Speaking to Complex, Jada revealed that the success of the battle forced Def Jam to restructure his contract. He said, “My numbers went up for hostings and walkthroughs, for shows, and TV cameos. Just in general my numbers went up. It also showed Def Jam that they got to do the right thing [and] restructure my contract. It really showed the world my true worth, what I can do.”
