Jennifer Lawrence Was Advised By Adele “Not To Do” A Poorly-Received Film

Jennifer Lawrence is thinking back on her space gaffe.

The 2016 sci-fi romance Passengers featured Jennifer and Chris Pratt as a couple whose hibernation aboard a spacecraft is interrupted 90 years early. The Oscar winner recently revealed that Adele advised her against taking up a role in the film. Even though she didn’t pay attention at the time, the actress now regrets not following her friend’s advise.

“Adele told me not to do it!,” confessed Jennifer to The New York Times. “She was like, ‘I feel like space movies are the new vampire movies.’ I should have listened to her.”

The Hunger Games star acknowledged that the movie did not garner favorable reviews when it first came out, but she claimed she agreed with the criticism.

“I was like, ‘Oh no, you guys are here because I’m here, and I’m here because you’re here,” the actress shared. “Wait, who decided that this was a good movie?'”

Jennifer stated that she felt that she had stopped trusting her instincts at some point, adding: “Everything was like a rebound effect. I was reacting, rather than just acting.”

But this isn’t the first time the actor has mentioned Passengers as a professional blunder. Looking back at the films she had produced prior to her acting hiatus in 2019. With the star-studded Netflix film Don’t Look Up, Jennifer makes her acting comeback in 2021.

However, viewers can anticipate seeing the actress from American Hustle back on their screens in the drama Causeway, which debuts in theaters and on Apple TV+ on November 4.
