A judge may deny the rapper access to the children he shares with his ex-wife if he fails to appear for his scheduled deposition on November 16 as scheduled, according to legal experts. The 45-year-old has one final opportunity to be questioned by Kim’s defense team on November 29, according to court documents obtained by The US Sun.
The site warns that if he repeatedly fails to appear, it could seriously harm his prospects of retaining custody of the four kids he has with Kim (North, 9, Saint, 6, Chicago, 4, and Psalm, 3).
Family lawyer Lexie Rigden of Rigden Law LLC in New Jersey said to the outlet: “If Kanye refuses to show up to his deposition, the judge could sanction him monetarily, make him pay counsel fees, and if it is an egregious enough discovery violation, the judge may be able to bar him from putting on a case at trial.”
The managing partner of Zweiback, Fiset Zalduendo LLP, Rachel Fiset, added: “Avoiding a deposition in litigation is treated seriously by the judge, particularly when it is a repeated offence… overall, this can hurt his case. In the most severe instance, the judge can rule against him and he could get a lesser custody award and a less favourable monetary disposition.”
Kim, 42, is reportedly willing to grant Kanye 50/50 custody of the children, but he later claimed on social media that she has them 80% of the time. This new revelation coincides with an article in Rolling Stone regarding the rapper giving his Yeezy crew a pornographic film of his then-wife Kim Kardashian.
More than two dozen ex-Yeezy and Adidas employees were interviewed by Rolling Stone. These employees talked about how West often and unprompted showed them graphic images of Kardashian. A 2018 meeting with the Yeezy design team was one event that Rolling Stone reported on. According to an individual who claims to have seen the film, which West allegedly showed during this meeting, the video featured an explicit image of Kardashian.
