Libianca Makes A Significant Debut On The Billboard Hot 100 Chart

Libianca, a Cameroonian-American Afrobeats artist, has made her debut on the Billboard Hot 100 list with the No. 91 launch of her breakthrough single “People” on the chart dated May 13. According to Luminate, the song, which was released on December 5, 2022, has received 5.9 million U.S. streams (up 33%), 2.7 million radio airplay audience impressions (up 28%), and 1,000 downloads sold (up 40%) in the tracking week of April 28–May 4. Due to its expanding radio presence, it debuts at No. 37 on Rhythmic Airplay and No. 39 on Mainstream R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay.

The single has undergone several remixes, including one with Becky G (released on April 21), one with Ayra Starr and Omah Lay, Cian Ducrot, and another that is sped up. As a result, the song climbs to positions 41-19 on Billboard Global Excl. U.S. and 47-25 on Billboard Global 200 to enter the top 40 of Billboard’s international charts.

As a fragment of the original has been featured in more than 1.6 million clips on the site, TikTok has played a significant role in the song’s rising popularity. More than 265,000 videos have included a portion of the song’s sped-up version. When “People” debuted at No. 38 on the Billboard U.S. Afrobeats Songs chart in December, it marked her first single to feature on a Billboard survey. It is now holding steady at its No. 2 high.
