Libianca’s ‘People’ Tops The UK Official Afrobeats Chart

It’s no longer news now that Libianca has ascended to the summit of the UK Afrobeats Chart, as Nigerian talents Rema, Burna Boy, and Oxlade continued to dominate the UK Official Singles Chart in the most recent release.

Libianca’s “People” tops as a result of the Viral pull that the song has garnered in recent weeks following the attention it has gotten from social media and the internet.

Challenges on the various apps, especially TikTok, and the song’s sampling on almost every other video/post by users, have caused increased streams for the beautiful song that has libianca singing her reality – a reality many relate to.

As it enters its second week on the chart, Libianca’s song “People” climbs 32 places up from 90th place last week to No. 62 this week.

And these are exciting times for the not-so-newcomer who is beginning to get the attention she demands, and a 32-place jump will be morale-boosting. This makes her the first Cameroonian to top the afrobeat chart.

In other news, Rema’s No. 8 peak position from the previous week and its 20-week run on the chart are both held by the remix of his viral song “Calm Down” with Selena Gomez.

The 17-week run of Oxlade’s “Kulosa” results in a five-spot dip from last week’s 57th position.
