Lil Wayne Is Named By Fat Joe As The Best Artist He’s Ever Seen In The Studio

When asked who among their colleagues is the best at this or that, artists never want to come off as favoring one over the other, but Fat Joe took a risk during his recent appearance on The Shop: Uninterrupted. The rapper paid a visit to the HBO series, which he shared with Don Lemon and Amy Schumer, as well as the show’s writers.

Joe isn’t afraid to speak his mind, and he was asked who he believed were the greatest of the artists he’d seen in the studio. “I don’t want nobody to kill me, but the best…Lil Wayne,” he said without second-guessing. “Wayne taught me—so, what happens is, Lil Wayne took up from where Tupac was, he was putting out two albums a year. This guy was never in the club, he was the No. 1 artist in the world.”

“He’s in a little room and there’s big, giant speakers, and he’s just there like, staring at the speaker,” Joe said. “He goes in the booth, ‘I am a beast, feed me Hip-Hop, feed me…’ I was like holy f*ck. This guy took the record. He’s a beast!” Below is the complete episode of The Shop.
