Lil Wayne Names His Favorite Canadian Artist Other Than Drake

This past weekend marked Weezy F. Baby’s first trip back to Canada in years. He did, however, briefly pull up in Toronto the week before Drake revealed that he had tested positive for COVID. Anyway, Lil Wayne recently made an appearance at the Young Money Reunion, where he was warmly welcomed by the crowd.

After that, Weezy spoke briefly with Much Music, a venerable Canadian music publication. Throughout the conversation, the rapper responded to inquiries about his own country, as well as about some of his favorite musicians outside his well-known protege.

Wayne acknowledged that despite working with Justin Bieber frequently throughout the years, he was unaware of his Canadian citizenship. Wayne declared his appreciation for some of the most well-known pop performers from Canada, including FeFe Dobson and Avril Lavigne.

“Shout out Avril. I had to sing ‘Sk8r Boi’ on Masked Singer. Also, she sung my verse while she was on tour with MGK. But, my favorite Canadian artist — I’m sorry — Kardinal Offishall,” he stated, advising individuals who were not familiar with him to “Google it.”

Shortly later, Kardi replied on Instagram, writing, “Maximum respect to one of the greatest of all time @liltunechi.” Previously, Lil Wayne and Kardinal Offishall collaborated on the songs “Colorful Clothes” by Trae Tha Truth and “No War” by Barrington Levy.
