On Tuesday, Wizkid posted a flier for his event, “Vibes on the Beach with Big Wiz,” which is slated to take place in Lagos on December 30, 2022, on his Instagram story. Alongside the post, the musician declared that this was his final show in Lagos.
He wrote: “Last time I ever perform in Lagos. Let’s rage!!”
To further support Wizkid’s message, his official Disc Jockey, DJ Tunez, tweeted on Wednesday via his Twitter account that Wizkid was serious about his assertion. He said that Nigeria needs to build a stadium or an arena in Wizkid’s honor.
Though Wiz is yet to explain why his December show in Lagos would be his last performance in the city, his teeming number of fans have expressed their displeasure in his decision. Some fans are amused by how even those that aren’t Wizkid fans are bothered or suddenly have opinions on his decision to never perform in Lagos again.
Some others, a greater number actually, feel it is a bit rude to turn your back on your own city in that manner, especially when it’s where everything about his career began and where the foundation of his fanbase was built. But the Starboy should have his reasons which are yet to be disclosed.
