Nigerian Singer Portable Sets Sights on Nollywood Career

Habeeb Okikiola, also known as Portable, a Nigerian singer, has revealed his decision to pursue a career in acting and join Nollywood. The Zazuu actor made the announcement while meeting with Yoruba film star Taiwo Hassan, commonly known as Ogogo.

Portable showed his excitement at the potential of earning a name for himself in the film industry in a video shared on social media. Given his proclivity for drama, fans have already expressed their interest in knowing how seriously Portable intends to follow this new career path and whether he will be a good fit for the acting business.

Portable is well-known for his lively performances and has amassed a sizable fan base in the Nigerian music scene. It remains to be seen whether his stage abilities will convert to movie success. Nollywood, or the Nigerian film industry, has produced some successful actors and actresses, including Genevieve Nnaji, Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde, and Ramsey Nouah. It has also received international acclaim for its contributions to the film industry, and its films are well-known throughout Africa and beyond.

Portable’s announcement comes at a time when many Nigerian musicians are expanding their artistic horizons outside music. In recent years, several Nigerian musicians, notably Banky W and Falz, have successfully switched into acting. Whether Portable will follow in their footsteps and become the next big-screen music star remains to be seen.
