LONDON, UK – May 26, 2023: Fresh off the success of his debut album, It’s All Smiles, Filipino artist No Rome continues to break musical boundaries with the release of his new single, “Brother.” The song comes in the wake of his successful tour across the United States, supporting Keshi. The artist is also pleased to announce Blueboy Must Die, a seven-track mixtape slated for release on July 28 through Dirty Hit Records.
“Brother”, the first serving from his forthcoming mixtape, showcases the musical evolution of No Rome. The single, produced by Kurisu and recorded in London, maintains Rome’s signature genre-bending sound while pushing the boundaries of shoegaze with layered synths and luscious strings that intricately weave around his vocals.
The track explores the theme of platonic love, drawing inspiration from poet Rachel McKibbens and his conversations with Kurisu during studio sessions. Rome explains, “I felt the need to write something that shows love in a platonic way and being there for each other more.”
The release is accompanied by a music video directed by Ben Brook. Set in a dystopian underworld marked by AI and distorted tech, the video features Rome navigating the human implications of a tech-driven collapse. It presents a series of surreal observations on mass-consumerism, adding a visual layer to the song’s lyrical depth.
No Rome has quickly become one of the most exciting young talents, with over 150 million global streams to his name. Garnering support from leading publications like Vogue, The Face, High Snobiety, NME, The Guardian, The Fader, and Paper Mag, Rome is undoubtedly cementing his place in the music industry.
Fans can listen to “Brother” now and eagerly anticipate more innovative music from No Rome in the near future. Further updates on Blueboy Must Die are expected soon.
