Nollywood Stars Rally for Mohbad’s Befitting Farewell
Actresses Iyabo Ojo and Tonto Dikeh Lead the Charge for Late Singer's Burial Preparations
The untimely demise of Nigerian singer Mohbad has left the entertainment industry in shock, and as the nation mourns, Nollywood actresses Iyabo Ojo and Tonto Dikeh have stepped forward to ensure that the late artist receives a dignified farewell. The duo recently visited Ebony Vault in Ikoyi to make arrangements for Mohbad’s burial, a gesture that has drawn both appreciation and criticism from the public.
Following the exhumation of Mohbad’s body for an autopsy, his remains were placed in a mortuary, awaiting a proper funeral. Iyabo Ojo, in a heartfelt announcement on her Instagram page, shared that a funeral home had generously offered its services for Mohbad’s burial free of charge. This included the gift of a luxurious casket, which was showcased in a video shared by the actress. In the video, both Iyabo and Tonto are seen arriving at the funeral home, where they jointly decide on a pristine white casket for the late singer.
The benevolence of the funeral home did not stop at the casket. They also provided a significant discount for the vault, complimentary pallbearers, hornsmen, two fresh wreaths, wreath bearers, and even a horse carriage. Iyabo expressed her gratitude in her post, thanking the CEO of Ebony Vault and also acknowledging Tonto Dikeh for her support.
However, the actions of the actresses have not been without controversy. While many have lauded their efforts, some netizens have criticized them for sharing videos of the casket selection process, deeming it insensitive. Social media platforms have been abuzz with divided opinions on the matter, with some praising the actresses for their transparency and others questioning the need for such public displays during a somber time.
Regardless of the differing views, it’s evident that Iyabo Ojo and Tonto Dikeh’s intentions are to honor Mohbad and provide solace to his grieving family. As the entertainment community comes together during this challenging time, it’s a reminder of the bonds that tie them together and the collective responsibility they feel towards one of their own.
