Offset Samples R&B Classic In New Song Snippet

Offset, the talented rapper and member of the famous hip-hop group Migos, has been relatively quiet in the music industry since his second solo album, “Set It Off,” in 2023. Although he occasionally drops a few guest verses, his media coverage has mostly been centred around his high-profile relationship with fellow rapper Cardi B. Even when Offset does get attention for his music, it’s not always in a positive light. Recently, his fans were disappointed after he withdrew from his scheduled performance at the Hot 97 Summer Jam.

However, on May 10, Offset took to Instagram to give his fans a glimpse of what he had been working on. He previewed a new song, which is yet to be named and has no discernible lyrics. Nevertheless, the instrumental caught the attention of music lovers. The track features a trap beat that samples the popular 1980s R&B classic “Love You Down” by Ready for the World. The song starts with the original vocals, which then transition into a great filtered version, with Offset taking a melodic approach and singing his rhymes. The romantic subject matter of the sampled track is reflected in Offset’s version, which sounds fresh and different from his previous work.

Offset is known for his hard-hitting drums and glitchy hi-hats in his previous work, but he has expressed his desire to explore old-school music as inspiration for his upcoming work. In a recent interview with the Los Angeles Daily News, he cited Michael Jackson as one of his inspirations, noting that he appreciates the late pop star’s skill and work ethic. “I see more for myself and creatively challenge myself to take it to the next level, even though I’m on a high level,” Offset said.

Although Offset claimed in December 2023 that his next album would be released in February, there has been no further information on its release. Fans are eagerly waiting to hear more about Offset’s upcoming project and hope to hear the full version of his new song soon.
