On The One-Year Anniversary Of His Death, Lil Uzi Vert Claims That XXXTentacion Was His Only Competition

Lil Uzi Vert paid honor to XXXTentacion and stated that he considered him a rival in the music industry.

XXX was shot and killed inside his ride in Deerfield Beach, Florida, four years ago. The 20-year-old musician was known for his punk-rap style of music and his spectacular performance talents, which could get any crowd pumped up. X, whose real name is Jahseh Dwayne Ricardo Onfroy, has collaborated with some of the industry’s biggest names, including Trippie Redd, Kodak Black, Joey Bada$$, and others.

At a concert this week, Lil Uzi Vert, who released songs that sounded similar to X’s, reflected on the rapper’s life. Uzi performed at the Something In The Water festival in Washington, D.C. on June 18, the one-year anniversary of X’s death. The “XO TOUR Llif3” musician took a break from his performance to address the crowd.

“Today is a special day,” he began, “it was an artist by the name of XXX. Rest in Peace to XXX.” Uzi continued to pay tribute to the rapper by explaining their friendship, despite the fact that they had never collaborated. “That was, like, my only competition. Every time I dropped, he dropped… He would go number one or I would go number one. Either way it was going to go, one of us was going to turn it up.”
