On The Stage Of The 2022 MTV VMAs, J.I.D Performs “Surround Sound” And “Dance Now”

The 2022 MTV Video Music Awards have been a major night over in New Jersey as they continue to honor the best of the best in the business. The show began with a performance by co-host Jack Harlow, who enlisted Fergie to help him on his “Song of the Summer” winner, “First Class.” The red carpet surely attracted plenty of attention as performers from many musical genres arrived in their best attire.

Additionally, Snoop Dogg and Eminem performed their most recent collaboration, “From the D to the LBC,” and 39-year-old Nicki Minaj put on a lengthy performance of many of her best songs, ranging from “Super Bass” to “Super Freaky Girl,” before accepting the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award.

Another rapper who performed for audiences this evening was Dreamville’s J.I.D, who chose the songs “Surround Sound” and “Drive Now” off his just-released The Forever Story album to perform for both live audiences and viewers at home.

It is anticipated that The Never Story, the 31-year-follow-up old’s to his debut, would sell close to 30K copies in its first week on sale. Whether or not that will put him in the top 10 of the Billboard 200 is still uncertain at this point, but regardless, he appears to be having a wonderful weekend.
