Post Malone And Billy Strings Render A Cover To Johnny Cash’s ‘Cocaine Blues’
Though he’s had hits topping the hip-hop and pop charts, sometimes it does seem like Post Malone is a low-key country artist at his core. He got a chance to showcase his country-singing side on Wednesday night (April 13) at the Observatory in Santa Ana, California when he took the stage with bluegrass ripper, Billy Strings, for a joint performance of a Johnny Cash classic.
Casually waltzing on stage in a black Tee and jeans, Posty gave his bud Billy a big, warm hug, then he lifted his cup of draft beer and his smoke to the lively crowd already cheering, as Strings said, “I saw this guy lurking around backstage and I figured we gotta drag him up here to f—ing sing for you.”
Malone returned the love, calling Strings “the best to ever f—ing do it” before Strings started off with the intro to Cash’s stone standard, “Cocaine Blues.”
Malone also politely asked Strings if it was cool to toss his smoke on the stage and stomp it out. “Stomp on it Billy!” shouted someone in the crowd. And with both men strumming their acoustic guitars, Malone stepped up to the mic to deliver the white line(s) murder ballad.
