Post Malone And Swae Lee React After “Sunflower” Earns The Highest RIAA Certification Ever

Swae Lee, a platinum-selling artist with two diamond certifications, and Post Malone, a five-diamond certified artist with a Grammy Award nomination, have once again made music history. As of this month, their song “Sunflower,” which has gone 17x-platinum, was formally recognized as “the highest-certified single in RIAA history.”

With the most popular song of their generation, which was included in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, they have attained a rare level of success. The song, which peaked at No. 40 on the February 19-dated Billboard Streaming Songs chart, broke the record for the most weeks spent on the chart overall in February.

According to MRC Data, “Sunflower” received 7.8 million U.S. streams during the tracking week of February 4–10. It remained on the chart for 123 weeks, surpassing PSY’s “Gangnam Style,” which was there for 122 weeks before making a final appearance in September 2015.

As they created history with their song “Sunflower,” which became the highest charting RIAA-certified single ever, Post Malone and Swae Lee congratulated their fans. Post Malone called the accomplishment “pretty damn cool” and said he feels “super honored” to own the most popular song of all time. Swae Lee also received praise from him for penning “Sunflower” and completing the most of the “heavy lifting.”

Swae Lee also expressed gratitude to Mile Morales, a fictional character, and Post Malone.

“Glad the music could get the attention and love it deserves,” he said. “So much more to come! SREMMLIFE!”
