Rema Beats The Record Set By Wizkid On The Billboard Hot 100

The remix of Rema’s international hit tune “Calm Down,” which features Selena Gomez, reached No. 8 on the most recent Billboard Hot 100, according to chart news website Chart Data on Tuesday, March 21, 2023. As one of history’s most significant crossover Afrobeats songs, “Calm Down” has now eclipsed Wizkid’s “Essence” remix featuring Tems and Justin Bieber as the highest-ranking African single on the Billboard Hot 100.

Wizkid, the founder of Starboy Entertainment, previously held the record for the highest-ranking Nigerian song on the Billboard Hot 100 after his hit single “Essence,” which featured Tems and Justin Bieber, climbed to No. 9 on the chart. On Rema’s debut album, “Raves & Roses,” published in February 2022, “Calm Down” was one of the lead singles.

Before receiving a Selena Gomez remix that helped it to even greater worldwide recognition, the song had tremendous local and international success. With over 230 million views, “Calm Down” is the most-watched Nigerian music video on YouTube. Also, it has topped one billion streams on all platforms. In addition, Rema received its first RIAA platinum plaque for the song, and the remix is anticipated to sell over 2 million copies in the upcoming weeks.

Remmy boy has also expressed gratitude for the huge feat, thanking God and the Ravers, who have made this accomplishment achievable.
