Rema Clears The Air About Supposed “Beef” With Davido; Lauds “Senior Colleagues”

Divine Ikubor, as Rema, a musician from Nigeria, has denied reports that he ever got into a fight with Davido, the Afrobeats icon. During an interview with foreign journalist and DJ Ebro, the “Calm Down” singer talked about his supposed conflict with Omo Baba Olowo. However, Rema claimed it was only gossip and further stated how much he respected his senior colleagues. He doesn’t seek out trouble, is an introvert, and dislikes controversies, claims the Mavin Records performer. However, in a recent interview, the youthful singer refuted these assertions by asserting that he has always respected his senior colleagues. This will be a piece of welcomed news following the uncertainty surrounding his relationship with OBO after the 2020 BBNaija Finale.

Remember that the rumor gained attention after Rema was seen complaining online in 2020. At the BBNaija 2020 finale, which reality TV personality Laycon won, Davido is said to have hit him. Reportedly, Rema’s bouncers allegedly snubbed Laycon and other Housemates who wanted to snap photographs with him, which sparked a dispute with Davido and resulted in the alleged altercation.

Rema has now clarified that he and Davido do not have a history of animosity. He continued to praise the harmony among Afrobeats musicians, stating that despite their differences in egos and successes, they have significantly succeeded as a group.

Davido released his TIMELESS album on 31 March, following a hiatus after the death of his son after a domestic accident. His latest release has received rave reviews from many quarters and is still topping most charts worldwide. Rema has also had a great run on the charts as his ‘Calm Down” single and remix with Selena Gomes has been touted as “one of the best afrobeat tracks” in present times.
