Sarkodie Releases His Highly-Anticipated Mixtape, “The Championship”

Ghanaian rapper, Sarkodie, has released a new mixtape, “The Championship,” which features six tracks and can be downloaded or streamed on all major digital platforms.

Before the project ever got underway, Sarkodie made it known that the collection, whose rollout was kicked off by its lead single, “Brag,” was meant to be of particular interest to his devoted hip hop fans. Over the course of a month, the rapper continued, the recording process drawing new inspiration from his older works such as Makye and Sarkology.

Along with contributions from longtime partner Joey B and up-and-coming artists Xlimkid and Beeztrap KOTM, this album explores themes of trauma, survival, achievement, loyalty, and longevity. Producers Fortune Dane, Altra Nova, and M.O.G Beatz handled production.

With nine solo albums under his belt and a BET winner, Sarkodie is one of the most distinguished African hip hop talents. His most recent full-length collection, Jamz, is set to release in 2022. In an initiative that will enable supporters to purchase project shares, Sarkodie and blockchain platform Opulous partnered before The Championship’s release in London, UK.

Weverse from HYBE and EVEN are two examples of the growing popularity of direct-to-consumer platforms. Although Sarkodie stated that more information will be released eventually, not much else is known about how the arrangement operates.
