On March 16, 2023, in the late evening, Seyi Vibez, whose real name is Balogun Afolabi Oluwaseyi, posted on Instagram that his mother had passed away. Seyi has been going in hard with the music, enjoying features from other established Nigerian acts, including BNXN fka Buju, who had him and Kizz Daniel on his latest hit song, “Gwagwalada.” The song took the number one spot on various Nigerian music charts, with its visual accruing over a million views on YouTube. Within the same period, he was also tapped by ace indigenous rapper Zlatan on his banging new song, “Let There Be Light.”

Before quitting his job as a corporate employee for a music career, Seyi Vibez began exploring his passion for singing by recording renditions of his favorite African songs at the time. As a result, he is one of the few prominent singers holding down the fort for indigenous-language pop music in Nigeria, thanks to his development within the music scene as a powerful lyricist and a talented performer. Our heartfelt condolences are with Vibez and his entire family.
